The first CONVERGENCE NAVI organised by the Ferretti Group and dedicated to captains of its yachts over 24 metres was a great success.
Thirty-four yacht captains from all over the world (Europe, the USA, Australia and the Middle East) took part in the meeting for captains in charge of Ferretti Group yachts over 24 metres, held in Riccione, Italy, from the 5th to the 7th of April.
The course, with a programme which covers technical and managerial issues, is the result of the participation and contribution of important brands linked to the world of leisure yachting, with specialised training sessions on the daily management of megayachts organised for the captains.
MTU, Pinmar, Radiomarine, RINA and Arimar underscored the value of the training with their presence. The three days saw classroom activities alternate with rest and relaxation. The captains' wives were also invited to this event, with special events arranged for their entertainment, too. Fly3, a company specialised in nautical clothing and accessories, was another of the event's partners and presented all participants with a complimentary bag. The guests arrived in Riccione on the 5th of April, where the first classroom session was held while the ladies were taken on a tour around the old city of Rimini.
After being welcomed by Andrea Frabetti, Vice President of the Ferretti Group Engineering Department, it was the turn of MTU and Pinmar, who offered insights into yacht engines and onboard painting.
The evening concluded in the wonderful setting of the Riviera Golf Club in San Giovanni in Marignano, with a gala dinner offered by the main sponsor, MTU, with sampling of Nonino grappa, BruCo chocolate and Davidoff cigars, companies who wished to be present at the event, alongside Bellini and Veuve Cliquot. The CEO of the Ferretti Group, Gabriele Del Torchio, and the CEOs of the Group's brands – Lamberto Tacoli (CRN), Fulvio Dodich (Ferretti Yachts), Ferruccio Rossi and Giancarlo Galeone (Riva) and Fabio Fraternale (Pershing) – certainly couldn't miss the event either, taking the opportunity to meet the guests and their partners in an upbeat setting.
The second day got underway with a team-management activity, “building, managing and working in teams”, during which the captains learned how to manage teams in situations of crisis. This was followed by a tour of the three main Ferretti Group shipyards: CRN, Pershing and Ferretti Yachts. The ladies, on the other hand, enjoyed a day of absolute relaxation, between shopping at the Gilmar factory (Iceberg and Gerani brands, which opened its doors specially for this occasion), and a spa afternoon courtesy of Technogym. Unfortunately, inclement weather prevented the scheduled go-kart tournament, so a delicious typical Romagna meal was followed by a private viewing of Norberto Ferretti's classic car collection.
Presentations on GMDSS (Arimar), on-board communications and entertainment (Radiomarine) and safety regulations and certifications (RINA – the Italian naval registry) characterised the morning of the third day, which concluded with the presentation of attendance certificates before everyone joined in a goodbye lunch and bid each other farewell until Convergence Navi 2007
