After the success of the previous three events, Convergence, the theoretical and practical training course for captains of Ferretti Group yachts up to 24 metres, entered its fourth edition.
For furher information:
Over 100 captains from all over the world took part in the course, held in Naples between the 27th of February and the 2nd of March 2007. The programme included meetings and classroom sessions to examine the principles and issues regarding the everyday management of motor yachts in depth. It was organised into training workshops, technical lectures by experts in on-board components and systems, and practical sessions.
During one of the activities, the captains were asked to design the perfect helm station. A jury chaired by Andrea Frabetti, head of the Advanced Yacht Technology department, who also coordinated the technical training during the three-day programme, selected the best project.
The event was officially opened with a gala dinner at the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri di Savoia, where the captains were welcomed by the CEO of Apreamare, Cataldo Aprea.
Over the course of the three days, the captains visited the brand-new Torre Annunziata nautical centre, started in November 2002 and due to be completed in the near future. This centre, which is strategically an extremely important shipyard for Apreamare and the Ferretti Group as a whole, is a new, modern site spread over a surface area of 125,000 square metres, of which 60,000 square metres is covered.
During the training programme there was also a trip to Pompeii, which the captains found particularly interesting. The whole event was, as usual, the stage for a worthwhile exchange of ideas and dialogue between the participants, who were given the opportunity to meet and discuss their experiences and examine the many complex issues linked to the daily management of luxury motor yachts.
